Fifth EU-UK Parliamentary Partnership Assembly meeting in Brussels

The fifth meeting of the EU-UK Parliamentary Partnership Assembly (PPA) took place in Brussels 17–18 March 2025, gathering Members from both the European and UK Parliaments.

As the principal forum for interparliamentary dialogue under the EU-UK Trade and Cooperation Agreement, the Parliamentary Partnership Assembly plays a key role in fostering cooperation on shared priorities.

Throughout the two-day session, Members held discussions on several core themes, including the future of EU-UK foreign and security policy cooperation, trade and regulatory issues—particularly customs and sanitary/phyto-sanitary measures—as well as youth opportunities.

The Members had an exchange of views with Commissioner Maroš Šefčovič and the UK Paymaster General and Minister for the Cabinet Office, Rt Hon Nick Thomas-Symonds MP. Both officials addressed the Assembly on the latest developments and outlook within the EU-UK Partnership Council.

To enable more in-depth conversations, Members also participated in three breakout groups dedicated to:
              •            Artificial Intelligence and data protection
              •            Climate and energy cooperation
              •            Regulatory cooperation in financial services
to encourage open dialogue on complex issues.

The Assembly concluded by adopting a recommendation on EU-UK relations. Both chairmen issues also a  joint statement. The full meeting was live-streamed and is available for viewing via the official EP channels.
